The challenge
The cost of a traditional WAN depends on how many sites an organisation operates, where they are located and how much bandwidth each needs. Buyers needed a way to test whether moving to Hybrid WAN could reduce their total cost, using a network footprint closer to their own rather than a generic savings claim.
What we delivered
- Built an interactive Hybrid WAN TCO Savings Tool comparing traditional WAN with our client Hybrid WAN and internet-based WAN.
- Asked buyers how much of their workload has moved or is moving to the cloud, and whether cost savings or performance is their main WAN priority.
- Let buyers set site counts and bandwidth requirements separately for US/Canada, APAC, Europe and the rest of the world.
- Calculated an indicative three-year total cost of ownership for both approaches and displayed the potential cost reduction as a percentage and monetary value.
- Made the model’s key assumptions visible, including an MPLS VPN starting point and assumed annual traffic growth.
- Added a route from the estimate to a custom-quote conversation.
Business value
Buyers can explore the potential financial impact of Hybrid WAN against their own regional network footprint. Sales can start a discussion around the buyer’s sites, bandwidth and cloud plans rather than a general cost-saving claim. The tool gives our client an interactive way to explain its Hybrid WAN proposition and invite interested buyers into a more detailed assessment.
